Mumbai:  Taking note of plight of women government employees,  Women and Child Development minister Yashomati Thakur has demanded that women government employees who are pregnant, over 50 years of age with high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney related diseases, heart ailments, respiratory ailments,  should be exempted from being present in the office on the humanitarian  ground. She wrote a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray requesting him to allow such women employees to work from home.

She  has written a letter to the Chief Minister to press this demand . The Gazetted Officers Association has made this request to her. “Many pregnant women officers and staff have returned to their hometowns to avoid endangering themselves and their babies by contracting covid-19. Other employees were also unable to attend the office due to traffic restrictions during the lock down . Experts say that people over the age of 50 with high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney related disorders, heart disease, lung and respiratory diseases are more likely to develop a dangerous condition due to covid infection.

Therefore, from a humanitarian point of view, the state government should also exempt this category of government women officers and employees from being present in the office. If it is very important, consider the option of allowing them to work from their home,” demanded Minister Thakur.
